The Ephraim Pottery Studio Gallery
recently opened
in charming
downtown Lake Mills, about 20 minutes east of Madison (WI). We hope you will take the time to visit our
beautiful new store and introduce yourself to manager Barbara Voss. She is
looking forward to meeting more of our collectors!
The gallery
is well-stocked with the pieces from our catalog. In addition,
special glaze variations, seconds and irregulars are available. We also
carry a selection of beautiful Arts and Crafts items from
Archive Edition Textiles
and gorgeous letterpress cards from Saturn Press. We also carry lovely
ornaments from Still Life which are actual leaves dipped in liquid metal.
Of course, our 2009 Collectors’ Calendars
are also available at the gallery (while supplies last!).
Hours and information for the new gallery
are shown at right. We hope that you will be able to visit soon!
Where
is Lake Mills?
Lake Mills is located just south of Interstate 94 about 20
miles east of Madison and about 50 miles west of downtown Milwaukee. The
gallery is located on the second floor of an historic building at the
corner of Lake and Church streets, one block west of the intersection of
Main and Lake.
Click here for an interactive map. Street parking is available. There is also a municipal parking lot kitty-corner across Church Street
from the gallery.
About the Old Municipal Building, home of
our gallery
The
Cream City brick structure that houses
the gallery was built around 1892 by the Fargo Dairy Supply Company. Over
the years it had housed the Lake Mills Leader newspaper offices, a
printing company, a barber shop/bathhouse, and the police department, to
name just a few of the tenants. Most recently it had been used as a
municipal building and city garage. After sitting vacant since 1999, it is
now being transformed into an arts building. Other current and future
residents of the building include Sweet Lips Gallery, which carries
colorful, whimsical objects made mainly by American artists, a coffee
shop, and a dance studio.
The opening of the gallery marks completion
of the first phase of our company’s planned move to Lake Mills. The lower
floor of the building and the attached former municipal garage will become
the new home of the Ephraim Pottery studio and office. Renovation on the
lower floor has already begun, and it should be complete and ready for us
to move in sometime this fall. Once the studio, office and gallery are all
under one roof, we will be able to plan additional activities for our
collectors. Our plans include a regular schedule of studio tours and
opportunities to view the potters at work.
