    Charles Darwin coined the term “living fossil” to describe ancient animal and plant species— like the iconic ginkgo—that have changed little over the millennia. For our Living Fossil Vase, Ephraim artists developed a new glaze combination to highlight the three hand-sculpted ginkgo leaves meeting the rim of a low, wide form. Orange and yellow leaves stand out against a rich blue-green crystalline glaze with a black crackle finish. Handmade to order. Our New Frond vase is a harmonious new friend to perfectly unify your collection. This vase celebrates spring’s earliest arrival—the fiddlehead—on a structured and traditional Arts and Crafts form. Inspired by the historic and iconic Grueby Faience Pottery’s fern-handled vases circa 1910, Ephraim artists revisited the fern and leaf theme in these small, rounded vases. This vase joins our traditional line of vases in four rich patinas. Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. We wonder what this little turtle ponders as he lazes away an idyllic summer day. Ephraim artist, Becky Hansen has an affinity for turtles, and so it is her glazing artistry that brings this vase to life. Our go-to turtle glazer, Becky, glazed many versions of this piece to develop the perfect color scheme that embodied the verisimilitude and pizazz she thought this little turtle deserved.    Handmade to order. Quarter-sawn Oak Frame Stand

    $ 110.00$ 120.00
    Frame stands from Ephraim Studios are a great solution for those who wish to display our framed tiles on a tabletop. Our stands are made by hand using a process similar to that of our frames. White oak is cut, planed, and sanded to perfection, then fumed and stained to darken the wood to a classic Arts-and-Crafts hue. Polyurethane is applied to seal and protect the wood. A colony of ravens nest in a rookery. In the studio we imagined this rook’s humble abode nestled in the tallest tree in a pine forest. The folksy sculptural style and the atmospheric textural glaze reinforce the storybook quality that makes the Rookery Vase such a special piece. Handmade to order. Since we opened our West Coast Gallery in Cambria, California in 2012, we embraced natural beauty of California. Our California customers encouraged us to feature their state flower, the California Poppy and now we turn to this motif often as a source of inspiration. Here, golden-edged orange poppies encircle the top of a vase glazed in aquamarine tones evoking the Pacific Ocean. Handmade to order. The studio revisits our popular Craftsman Rose motif in this tall, elegant vase. Bold architecture and abstract, stylized roses anchor the top of the vase. The strong sculpture fades into soft curves at the bottom of the form, providing a nice counterbalance. Handmade to order. The tritone is a musical interval composed of three adjacent whole tones. Ephraim artists play with a variation on this theme by creating three precisely, hand-rendered flower buds that encircle a small, soft form. The Tritone Vase is available in three glaze colors to coordinate with designs from our musically-inspired Rhythm Line, including the Revival Rose Vase the Lyrical Poppy Vase, and the Regency Poppy Vase. A little bat with big personality wakes from slumber against a moody sky to take wing on a vespertine voyage. Like the bat itself, the hand-thrown bottle form and detailed sculpture work provide plenty of character and charm in a small package. This piece makes a lovely companion to our Sleepy Hollow Vase.
