Do you ever wonder what lies at the bottom of the dark and mysterious sea? Octopuses, which evoke such supernatural wonder, are a favorite motif in the studio. In this impressive piece, a powerful octopus winds his tentacles around the narrow neck of the low-bellied vase. Ephraim artist, Laura Klein, sculpts each octopus individually, varying their pose and personality to marry the sculpture perfectly with the form. Handmade to order. A peacock feather is the star of this highly refined, exacting vase that draws inspiration from Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau line work. It may look effortless, but refining this design took dozens of iterations and nearly a year of trial and error. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From the meticulously incised design to the hand-painted details, this piece truly requires a steady hand and expert glaze application skills. Offered in two stunning glaze options–Leaf Green and Cranberry. Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. Ephraim artists first created this classic Grueby Faience Pottery reproduction piece in 1999.  This monumental vase has remained a part of our line ever since. In recent years, however, the Seven Handled Vase has been a hidden offering -  only available occasionally in our galleries and upon request. We are now pleased to once again present the Seven Handled Vase - the favorite of Arts & Crafts enthusiasts and lamp makers - freshly glazed in our studio favorite organic green. Handmade to order. This stunning, impressive vase features our favorite neighborhood orchid—the Lady Slipper Orchid. The leaves of the orchid rise diagonally on the face of the vase to form three handles, while the eye-catching blooms rest on the shoulder of the vase, between the leaves. Monochromatic, deep green glaze perfectly sets off the pink and cranberry tones of the orchid. No tree conveys a sense of strength and resilience like the oak. The tiny acorn contains everything necessary to grow into a strong, tall tree that is able to withstand the ravages of weather and time. This piece reminds us that strength and resilience, while they may be manifested on the outside, originate in that essential kernel within. Handmade to order. Some members of the magnolia family can trace their ancient origins back 95 million years—before bees were the bees knees—and to this day are pollinated instead by beetles. This vase celebrates the magnificent blossoms of the great magnolia tree. Dramatic sculpting and a cascading glaze application of green mingling with vibrant pinks and cranberry make this a stunning statement piece.

This bridge, which has no beginning and no end, reminds us that it's about the journey, not the destination. This unique piece exemplifies what can be achieved by pushing the limits to what can be done with clay. The pedestal of the base is hollow. It is topped by an insert that caps off the space inside the pedestal so that it can be used as an urn or to hide small treasures.*  This same cap serves as a base for a pillar candle or tea light to illuminate the lantern. The cut-outs in the base and the lid allow light and heat to escape and enhance the arched design of the bridge. Handmade to order. The Lookout Vase

A lone crow poses on one of three branch handles, overlooking a moody and mysterious vista, framed by draping lichen. This piece was inspired by Ephraim artists’ trip to the West Coast, where soaring Monterey pine trees with lichen—so different from fir trees here in Wisconsin—fascinated them. The Lookout Vase is offered in two sizes and two glaze options.  Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. This impressive piece offers a new twist - literally - on the beloved pine cone motif. Three tree limbs equally spaced around the top of the piece twist down to the shoulder, forming rustic handles. A pair of pine cones accented by long needles extends the design to nearly the full height of the piece. Handmade to order. Early last spring, Ephraim artist Matthew Drees spent an afternoon sketching as he hiked through the thawing Wisconsin landscape. Taking design cues from Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Drees created this wonderful vase from those sketches.
