    In Greek mythology, Iris is a golden-winged messenger of the gods who links heaven and earth. Here, a delicately sculpted iris sways in the gentle spring breeze.The lid of this piece is sunk below the rim, giving it more of a vase-like appearance. Handmade to order.     It is easy to see why, in the language of flowers, the lily of the valley, one of the first flowers to bloom in the spring, signifies the return of happiness.     This piece is a miniature version of our popular Affinity Vase. Reducing the Affinity design to miniature proportions accentuates the precious quality of the piece’s symmetry of form and sculpture.     The Orange Blossom Vase is a new motif for the studio. High relief sculpture and a tall form offered a perfect substrate to show off our rich Indigo glaze, punctuated with complementary Orange and White glazes.     Since opening the Ephraim Pottery West Coast Gallery in 2012, we have become more familiar with the variety of California’s natural beauty, and local customers encouraged us to create a piece featuring their state flower, the California Poppy. Here, golden-edged orange poppies flutter in high relief on the side of a slim bottle glazed in aquamarine tones which evoke the Pacific Ocean.     The Prairie Light Vase pairs a rising Arts & Crafts form with bold, confident hand-carving. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and Prairie School stained glass, this design features a yellow poppy, framed by parallel black lines.
