Lidded Jars And Lanterns

Handmade to order. Please allow 4-6 weeks for production.A clear, bright melody rings out in the crisp air. From my windowpane I spy a pair of cardinals–one brilliant red and the other muted, still beautiful–as they dart between the tree branches, a welcome sight! This lidded jar celebrates our favorite visitors, the masked and crested Northern Cardinals. Positioned opposingly, these male and female cardinals perch on branches with crimson berries. The rich Seaspray Blue and Leaf Green glazes evoke the atmosphere on a clear day and accentuate the vases’ intense red focal points. Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. Because we lean away from technologies like molds, templates, and casts, each piece is wholly unique. Minor variations in size, decoration, color and finish are intrinsic to our pottery. Please expect and embrace the variation inherent in our process.

Ephraim artists have spent the last year experimenting with electric lanterns and we are pleased to offer the Prairie Ginkgo Lantern in our new Studio Collection. A lid adorned with sculpted ginkgo leaves sits atop a narrow tapered form. The organic sculpting on the lid provides a nice counterpoint to the series of square window piercings and formal architecture of the lantern’s base. This lantern provides a soft glowing light—perfect for a night light or other mood lighting. Includes a small removable cord and bulb.

Handmade to order. Please allow 4-6 weeks for production. No tree conveys a sense of strength and resilience like the oak. The tiny acorn contains everything necessary to grow into a strong, tall tree that is able to withstand the ravages of weather and time. This piece reminds us that strength and resilience, while they may be manifested on the outside, originate in that essential kernel within. Handmade to order. Handmade to order. Please allow 4-6 weeks for production. This bridge, which has no beginning and no end, reminds us that it's about the journey, not the destination. This unique piece exemplifies what can be achieved by pushing the limits to what can be done with clay. The pedestal of the base is hollow. It is topped by an insert that caps off the space inside the pedestal so that it can be used as an urn or to hide small treasures.* This same cap serves as a base for a pillar candle or tea light to illuminate the lantern. The cut-outs in the base and the lid allow light and heat to escape and enhance the arched design of the bridge. Handmade to order.
