Fields of poppy and lupine flowers bloom across California meadows from late February to April, their beautiful blossoms carpeting the valleys between mountains and hills to form iconic and stunning vistas. This regal tile features these two flowers rendered in rich and vibrant glaze colors. Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. Minor variations in size, decoration, color and finish are intrinsic to our pottery. Please expect and embrace the variation inherent in our process.

Since opening the Ephraim Pottery West Coast Gallery in Cambria, California in 2012, we have become more familiar with the variety of California’s natural beauty. Local customers encouraged us to create pottery that features their state flower, the California Poppy. Here, golden-edged orange poppies in low relief sculpture are the focal point of a circular composition and vignetted by a hammered texture. The 4-inch tile is glazed in a cheerful Aqua glaze with Teal edges to evoke the colors of the Pacific Ocean. Here, golden-edged orange poppies flutter in high relief on the side of a slim bottle glazed in aquamarine tones which evoke the Pacific Ocean. Because we lean away from technologies like molds, templates, and casts, each piece is wholly unique. Minor variations in size, decoration, color and finish are intrinsic to our pottery. This elegant poppy design adds to our growing Rhythm Line. The pieces in this collection forego traditional sculptural elements in favor of streamlined forms, artistic abstractions, and incised, patterned black linework reminiscent of a musical staff. The Regency Poppy Vase channels graceful 1920’s Deco style to represent the state flower of California—the California Poppy. Since we opened our West Coast Gallery in Cambria, California in 2012, we embraced natural beauty of California. Our California customers encouraged us to feature their state flower, the California Poppy and now we turn to this motif often as a source of inspiration. Here, golden-edged orange poppies encircle the top of a vase glazed in aquamarine tones evoking the Pacific Ocean. Handmade to order.
