Visual rhythm creates a ceramic melody in the Canon Vase. Here, five hand-carved tulips encircle a graceful, understated form. The piece is glazed in three different tonal color schemes–Chestnut, Crystalline Purple, and Cranberry and coordinates with designs from our musically-inspired Rhythm Line. The pieces in our Rhythm Line forego traditional sculptural elements in favor of streamlined forms, artistic abstractions, and incised, patterned black linework reminiscent of a musical staff. We created the Centerpiece Ginkgo Bowl to be an upsized version of our popular, recently retired Ginkgo Branch Vase. This piece, with its arboreal motif and earthy colors, has a timeless appeal. The design wraps around the top to form the rim, while branches rise above creating a sculptural piece. The twining sculpted design combined with our flowing, blended glazes, means each of these pieces is truly an original work of art. Handmade to order. Early last spring, Ephraim artist Matthew Drees spent an afternoon sketching as he hiked through the thawing Wisconsin landscape. Taking design cues from Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Drees created this wonderful vase from those sketches. A lone crow poses on one of three branch handles, overlooking a moody and mysterious vista, framed by draping lichen. This piece was inspired by Ephraim artists’ trip to the West Coast, where soaring Monterey pine trees with lichen—so different from fir trees here in Wisconsin—fascinated them.
