From the meticulously incised design to the hand-painted details, this piece truly requires a steady hand and expert glaze application skills. The Grand New Frond Vase is a large version and a playful companion to the popular New Frond Vase from the 2016 Studio Collection. Like the original design, this vase celebrates spring’s earliest arrival—the fiddlehead—on a structured and traditional Arts and Crafts form - inspired by the historic and iconic Grueby Faience Pottery’s fern-handled vases - circa 1910. In Greek mythology, Iris is a golden-winged messenger of the gods who links heaven and earth. Grueby’s Garden Vase owes inspiration to the historic, late 19th century Grueby Faience Pottery, famous for symmetrical design, low relief leaves and flowers, and signature textured green glazes. Our innovative throwing technique results in an elegant, severe form that perfectly shows off masterful sculpture and flowing, rich glaze. Handmade to order. This bridge, which has no beginning and no end, reminds us that it's about the journey, not the destination. This unique piece exemplifies what can be achieved by pushing the limits to what can be done with clay. The pedestal of the base is hollow. It is topped by an insert that caps off the space inside the pedestal so that it can be used as an urn or to hide small treasures.* This same cap serves as a base for a pillar candle or tea light to illuminate the lantern. The cut-outs in the base and the lid allow light and heat to escape and enhance the arched design of the bridge. Handmade to order. We created the Centerpiece Ginkgo Bowl to be an upsized version of our popular, recently retired Ginkgo Branch Vase. This piece, with its arboreal motif and earthy colors, has a timeless appeal. The design wraps around the top to form the rim, while branches rise above creating a sculptural piece. The twining sculpted design combined with our flowing, blended glazes, means each of these pieces is truly an original work of art. Handmade to order. The Prairie Light Vase pairs a rising Arts & Crafts form with bold, confident hand-carving. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and Prairie School stained glass, this design features a yellow poppy, framed by parallel black lines.
