A Year of Change and Innovation

The POT of the Week Turns 1 Year Old

American Art Pottery

March 3, 2020 – The unveiling of a big new idea called POT(tery) of the Week.

Enjoying a state of euphoria, ready for the challenge of a huge shift in the way we make pottery (in “normal” times), we were blissfully unaware of the turmoil about to take hold of the world. We intended this project to be a dynamic way to share ideas with our audience and gain feedback on product development in real time, however, the timing–at the cusp of the pandemic–made it far more important.

Fifty-something limited designs later POTW now represents a lifeline in more ways than one. In its infancy it connected us to you via weekly check-ins. Your response inspired us to keep creating amongst uncertainty. Persistent obstacles strengthened us as we leaned on each other, trusting the strengths of our teammates and friends, working together to persevere. And POTW kept the lights on as we adapted to the realities of closed galleries and working from in-home studios.

Have a Look Back!

These are some of your favorite RETIRED POT(tery) of the Week designs so far.

The POTW concept was born of an appreciation for experimentation as a daily and ongoing process. One year into the series we realize how lucky we are to be constantly developing new designs, methods, and glazes in our studio. Creative rigor energizes us and keeps us rushing to the kilns each morning.

Ephraim’s cornerstone collaborative environment is enhanced by open lines of communication with our friends and visitors. We hope that you continue to enjoy this glimpse into our creative process through the POTW and will be inspired to check in each week as we unveil our newest offering.
