Sometimes the world’s smallest creatures deserve the most careful notice. Notice the bee’s delicate wings; notice the bee’s patterned body; notice the bee’s important pollinating role in the ecosystem. Here a plump honey bee perches near the rim of a small, rippled form. A honey-like glossy amber glaze spills over a soft yellow matte glaze, inviting you to admire the little bee as it tends its honey.   Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. In folklore, ravens often play the tricksters and here we have portrayed two mischievous and conspiring ravens on a thick tree branch that winds around this vase. Stretching from the bottom to the top of the vase, the branch is separated in the mid-section, enhancing the illusion of depth. Our Mahogany glaze accented with a Crystalline Purple base and a Cranberry rim is the perfect moody background to set the scene.  Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. Our New Frond vase is a harmonious new friend to perfectly unify your collection. This vase celebrates spring’s earliest arrival—the fiddlehead—on a structured and traditional Arts and Crafts form. Inspired by the historic and iconic Grueby Faience Pottery’s fern-handled vases circa 1910, Ephraim artists revisited the fern and leaf theme in these small, rounded vases. This vase joins our traditional line of vases in four rich patinas. Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. Just as the sun sets and night falls, a little bat swoops upward to form the edge of this sloping vase. The cutout and manipulated rim as well as the low relief, organic sculpture of the bat impart a great amount of movement and vitality into this cabinet vase. Yellow, Aqua, and Indigo blend together beneath a golden crackle to evoke an early night sky. This is a must-have design for the bat lovers among us.  Handmade to order. No two pieces of the same design look exactly alike, that’s part of the magic of handmade ceramics. We designed the Oak Branch Bowl in the style of our popular, retired Gingko Branch and Pine Branch Vases. These three designs feature arboreal motifs that wrap around the rim, forming branch handles to create a sculptural piece. The twining design combined with our flowing, blended glazes, means each of these pieces is truly an original work of art. Do you ever wonder what lies at the bottom of the dark and mysterious sea? Octopuses, which evoke such supernatural wonder, are a favorite motif in the studio. In this impressive piece, a powerful octopus winds his tentacles around the narrow neck of the low-bellied vase. Ephraim artist, Laura Klein, sculpts each octopus individually, varying their pose and personality to marry the sculpture perfectly with the form. Handmade to order. Over The River Vase captures the serene beauty of a winter morning through a hand-painted and hand-sculpted landscape scene. The elegantly crafted, incised form serves as a canvas for a delicate vista featuring bare trees, a snow-covered bridge, and the tranquil stream that inspired its name. Rendered in soft, pastel tones that reflect the quiet stillness of daybreak, the subtle contrast between the dark exterior and the luminous landscape creates an illusion of inner light, bringing warmth and depth to this captivating piece of winter artistry. Since opening the Ephraim Pottery West Coast Gallery in 2012, we have become more familiar with the variety of California’s natural beauty, and local customers encouraged us to create a piece featuring their state flower, the California Poppy. Here, golden-edged orange poppies flutter in high relief on the side of a slim bottle glazed in aquamarine tones which evoke the Pacific Ocean.
